I was trying to make a world in which he could live a happier life.
Last night I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2. Now, before you write me off for being a delusional 20-something geek, hear me out, and know this post really has nothing to do with the movie but rather the experience I was gifted with last night.
We chose an older style theatre, you know the ones I’m talking about, one with opera style seating and a curtain. I was so floored when I walked in and realized that this is the same style of theatre as I watched the first one all those years ago. It truly was a ‘full circle’ moment and as much as I myself groaned quite audibly at the fact I felt the need to say that, it, in my mind was a perfect way to close out and bid adieu the series, and more fittingly the last 11 years of my life. Wow.
The movie itself was kind of perfect, but the experience of watching it together with a group of complete strangers all bound together by a love of the surreal and the belief that there is magic inside of all of us, was something entirely different. Collective squeals of joy, gasps, clapping, wooing and audible sniffles created a deep sensory experience. It speaks to the veracity of literature and its power, when done properly, to evoke deep and connected emotional experiences. While I am not entirely ready to say goodbye, I am happy I got to tag along for one hell of a ride.
